Welcome to the Muna Rosa journal!

Meet Bek and the Story Behind Muna Rosa

I’m Bek, the founder of Muna Rosa, a name inspired by my late grandmother and our cherished pastime—discussing jewellery! Muna Rosa is not only a tribute to her but to the artistry of handmade jewellery and the philosophy of slow, circular making (more details on that coming soon!). I am primarily self-taught, having taken numerous courses to deepen my understanding and acquire the skills necessary to create the pieces in the collection. I also collaborate with some incredible makers in Melbourne for their specialist skills.

My Journey to Making

One of my earliest memories of jewellery was a black velvet choker with a silver heart pendant that I spotted in a '90s magazine and was instantly in love with. It was my first experience of resonating with a piece of jewellery for self-expression. Lucky for me, my forever kind and supportive Mum bought it for me—by mail order (!!). The love and sentiment attached to that first piece is still a core (and very fond) memory. From childhood, I have always been happiest when making with my hands, whether it be cooking, crafting, photographing, or other creative outlets. When I found jewellery making through my clever friend Ros, everything clicked in that moment—as the journey of each piece embodies so many elements that I love: tactile making, meditative repetition, and improvisation with a tangible outcome to continue refining. Over a decade later, I’m still in awe of the process from the earth to my hands, crafting each piece with various methods, and ultimately seeing it cherished by someone special—it's the biggest honor for me. I’m a true sentimentalist at heart!

For the Love of Brand Journals

I love to delve into the inspiration, ethos, and meaning for the many brands I am drawn to. Discovering the little insights into their thinking and the intention behind their mission and "why" is endlessly fascinating to me. I hope to cultivate a space that invokes that feeling here for you!

My aim is for the journal to be a transparent and informative insight into Muna Rosa, highlighting the people, places, and inspirations that contribute to the beauty of everyday life and are reflected back into the pieces. This has always been, and will continue to be, the heart of the brand.

Thank you for being here, and I can’t wait to share more in the future!
